Asbestos- Australian Border Force have 0% Tolerance!

Asbestos Used Regularly in the Early Years

Asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral, at one point was highly prized for its fire resistance. It was used in brake pads/shoes, gaskets, internal combustion components, and hundreds of other assorted automobile parts. Asbestos was banned in most applications in the late 1970’s in the United States by the Environmental Protection Agency and Consumer Product Safety Commission, however, many older automotive parts still contain the harmful toxin. It is known to cause mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer.

Australian Border Force Crackdown on Asbestos

The ABF is targeting cars, motorcycles, and parts imported by Australian enthusiasts to address the use of asbestos in foreign vehicles. The agency says it is the responsibility of importers to ensure that asbestos is not used in any parts coming to Australia. “It doesn’t matter how old the vehicle is, or what type it is- if we suspect it may contain asbestos, we will request assurances from the importer to ensure that it doesn’t, ” says a spokesman for the ABF.

We Have the Solution for Asbestos Removal

We have been working very hard over the last 18+ months to create an approved Offshore pre-cleaning and an Asbestos pre-testing / removal program with the Australian Border Force control.

Our West Coast facility located in Compton, CA is currently the only site recognized as an Approved Offshore Cleaning facility by the Australian government in the USA. This approval enables us to offer “Guaranteed Pre-Cleaning” meeting the Australian Biosecurity requirements for vehicles and motorcycles.

This pre-inspection and pre-cleaning system allows our customers to avoid the hidden and inflated costs associated with attendance fees, quarantine inspections and cleaning at destination.

We guarantee the cleaning and therefore in the unlikely event your vehicle does get a random inspection or is re-inspected upon arrival, we will cover any associated inspection or cleaning cost.

We look forward to being of service to you and we will continue with our best efforts to assure you that we are doing everything we can to assure we are providing our customers with the best tools and options available to meet the Australian Government vehicle importation requirements and regulations.
